Dan Winters is a true Rocker with his leathers, attitude and gear. He is a Cincinnati Cafe Racer with an extensive bike collection and he’s never quite satisfied with good enough. While we like to tease him about living out in the stix at the end of a gravel drive that would loosen all of your teeth, he’s a dedicated rider and all around good guy. This is his XS650 that has seen a few revisions.
Dan says: “The bike is 1981 Yamaha xs650 seat and tail are from Hot Wing Glass, gas charged shocks, progressive springs in forks, reverse cone megaphone mufflers, clubman handle bars, paint was done by TQ auto body in Cincinnati. I wish I had some new photos and the list of mods which is a mile long. I’m almost done with the newest revision but had to dent in the tank so the clipons would turn lock to lock. The tank is back in the shop for paint again (that sucks).”
Well we can enjoy the 2011 version of Dan’s bike and we’ll see the updated 2012 version here very soon. I’ve seen the bike when he was wiring up the new ignition and small battery and I think you’ll like how it’s morphed. But for now, enjoy the 650 as she will be remembered by those of us who rode with him last year.
